Russia launches production of new gearboxes

The Sollers Group has launched production of six-speed manual transmissions for the Sollers SF5 and SF7 light commercial vehicles. In the near future, the facility will also begin serial production of manual transmissions and electromechanical transfer cases for the updated UAZ Patriot, Pickup, and Profi models.
Production is organized at the Sollers Transmission Production facility, based on the ZMZ industrial site. The new versions of the units are a development of the basic manual transmission models, which began production in 2024 with support from the Industrial Development Fund. The company stated that expanding the transmission lineup was made possible by the flexibility of the production line and its rapid changeover capabilities.
The site also produces six-speed manual transmissions for the Sollers light commercial vehicle and pickup lineup, as well as for the UAZ Profi "Polutorka". In addition, the facility manufactures electromechanical transfer cases for Sollers pickups. Casting and machining of transmission housings are carried out at the Zavolzhye site of the Sollers Group — by the foundry RosALit.
It is noted that the total investment of the Sollers Group in the development of the ZMZ industrial site since 2023, including the production of powertrains, transmissions, and foundry projects, has exceeded 3 billion rubles.
Earlier, on March 18, it was reported that the Sollers Group had launched a new seat production facility for Sollers ST6 and ST8 pickups at the UAZ industrial site in Ulyanovsk. The industrial partner for the project was Avtodom, involving Russian suppliers of foam elements for cushions and backrests, seat covers, and heating elements.
Another step towards strengthening the component base of our automotive industry. It is precisely such breakthrough projects, technologies, and innovations that will take center stage at the Auto+Automechanika Moscow exhibition at Timiryazev Center from May 12 to 14.
